Buys a custom neck, and *chooses* Pau Ferro? Well okay then.
What's wrong with Pau Ferro? Sounds much better than rosewood. Tried many strats with rosewood fretboard. Rosewood is dull and muffled sounding. Pau Ferro gives brightness, clarity and articulation to the tone. And it's not as dry sounding as ebony. Bying neck with rosewood only because it looks prestigious? No thanks :)
@@TheZvon well if you got it purely for intended tone then I respect that for sure. I just have gotten totally sick of finding so much Pau Ferro these days on stock Fender guitars that I went out and ordered a whole rosewood neck with my Warmoth guitar for something different and unique. I don’t exactly love the way Pau Ferro looks unless it’s a good piece, which seems rare. Ive never felt an overwhelming difference with neck woods, but I’ve also always favored rosewood before I knew anything else about it.
I have a pau ferro on my Angelico excel and it looks and sounds pretty nice. I personally would not do an order with a pay ferro.... but only because I prefer maple on my fender tele than rosewood or anything else. This being said... the pau ferro on my Dangelico is a lot better than the pau ferro I seen on many Mexican teles. So I would say that it depends on the quality that you get than on wether is pau ferro or not.

TO INSTALL SCREWS: (1) Align tuners in wholes as shown in RUclips Video tight against the wood. If tuners fit fairly tight, no need for washers or nuts at this time. (2) Obtain a small $9.99 hand drill on Amazon; most come with small drill bits. (3) Find a drill bit that goes through the tiny screw hole on the tuner, yet fits tightly as possible - around 3/32 depending on make of tuner. (4) Attach the bit to the hand drill. (5) In each tuner mounting hole, make 1-3 turns using the hand drill to make a chamfered hole about 30-thousands of an inch deep, just breaking the surface - Note: practice on scrap wood prior to. (6) Remove the tuners. (7) Find a TINY (THIN) drill bit half the diameter size of the screw. (8) In the chamfered hole, find its center and drill down about 1/4 of inch. (9) Mark each hole with a brown felt tip marker for ease of identification. (10) Without installing the tuners (using screw wax) screw the screws halfway into the headstock, then remove. (11) Attach tuners again to the headstock and line up with screw mounting holes you just made, which should be visible through tuner mounting hole. (12) Secure tuners to headstock with the small screws. (13) Finally, install and tighten washers and nuts on the opposite side.

Hey man! Thanks showing your sweet custom tele build the playing sounds great too 👌 I'm a first time newbie trying to put mine together and I *have a burning question* *About neck width at the nut* maybe you can help me out .. . You seem like you enjoy the necks and know what neck you wanted in your custom build so I'm wondering, for the neck I want : *standard thin profile neck profile and 11/16 (43mm nut)* . * *neck width* dictates what nut width *will suit it best no?* OR are the neck profile and nut width *not dependent on eachother?* . "I can't see any measurements on the neck profile section on The Warmoth site about this , SO therefore if I want a 1-11/16 nut but the necks width AT the NUT is say 1 3/4ths, then wont there be too much wood on the shoulders of the fretboard OR when I choose 1 11/16ths nut then that means the standard thin neck gets cut accordingly right to that nut width? . . I thought this was worth asking since I haven't heard anything about that point specifically on any Warmoth neck comparisons/neck profile/nut width videos etc so if there is any correlation between those points it really got me thinking^ and I'd be very interested to know. . Another example is for is say the guitar is the smaller scale body and neck 7/8 guitar(gibson scale length for example) , with the standard thin neck now let's pretend it has a 1 3/4ths *neck width at the nut* (example) sounds like it has to have a 1 3/4ths (44mm) nut to match it surely ? Or again is it opposite , so the nut width must be smaller than that ^ to have "room" on the fretboard and you go with 1 -11/16th ? (43mm) . . This is the very last piece of the equation I'm trying to figure out. Really hope you see this and all that makes some sense🙏 ^ please stay safe and healthy during this time, once warmoth is available to start shipping again due to covid back up I'm looking forward to finally pulling the trigger and putting the beast together 👌 with every build you REALLY learn I cant believe a year ago I was squeamish about changing pickups on a guitar now it's the neck I'm stuck on and everything else is ready go figure haha. . Hi friend! The nut width and the neck profile are different and absolutely independent dimensions. You can choose standerd thin with any nut width that Warmoth offers. The nut width is the measurement of the string nut that will fit, you right. And the neck profile is the measurement of neck thickness (from fretboard surface to the back surface where you apply your thumb while playing). You can check those measurements at the warmoth site - Guitar Necks/general options/neck profiles. Cheers :-)

great job ! what is your pickup height ? thx !
I always set pickups' height as low as possible to minimize the "string-pull" effect. But with Texas specials I couldn't get rid of that effect especially on 12 fret 6th string... So I jumped to Fender Vintage Noiseless on this guitar. And with vintage noiseless the string-pull effect is almost completely gone because of non-rwrp middle pup and narrow magnet spacing wich matches my string E to E spacing at the neck pup. In addition the fender's vintage noiseless can be tweaked with splitting toggle so they can work as "true" single coils with clarity and glassy tone, or as noiseless pups for overdriven tones without 60-cycle hum.
@@TheZvon Hi, interesting - so you can wire the noiseless pickups to put the 3rd wire to ground and make them sound like regular single coils? Do you have the N4 noiseless? I do and I think they sound quite thin/hollow even compared to a regular single coil and I didn't expect that, could be the guitar they are on contributing to that though. Thanks
Well, I have Vintage, Gen4 and Hot noiseless. All of them can be split. Hot noiseless have the most noticable effect of splitting dummy coil. Generally that effect is not huge but difference in tone is quite noticable and worth it. Gen4 hes a bit rolled off highs but with 500k pots they have enough treble. And Gen4s are the most difficult to modify because you have to remove non-removable pickup cover. All three noiseless models sound good but we have to understand that it is still compromise. We can hear it especially in comparison with conventional single coil pickup. It's not only about highs, it's a matter of overall tone. Though coil splitting is an additional option that makes noiseless pickup tone closer to real single coil.
